The original Pinehurst neighborhoods were developed and named by unit number (for instance, Unit One) instead of individual neighborhood names. When you look at a map of Pinehurst, you'll see that the streets are all winding and curving. There are several reasons for this. The most important reason is that the neighborhoods are built around golf courses. The second is that the neighborhoods were deliberately laid out this way to slow traffic. There are no shortcuts through most Pinehurst neighborhoods. This tends to make the neighborhoods harder to navigate for newcomers but much more pleasant for the homeowners!
Unit #1 is one of the oldest, most established neighborhoods within walking distance to the Village of Pinehurst. This unit features beautiful tree lined streets, mature landscaping and includes Pinehurst Country Club's #3 golf course and one of the PCC pools. The age of the homes range from the mid 1970's to newer construction and prices are from around $200 - $350K, with increased prices for golf front homes. Living in Unit #1 provides a wonderful opportunity to mingle with neighbors while working in your yard, walking, biking or jogging among the lovely residential streets.
